A scarce piece of Chantrell original painted artwork (11 1/4"x 15 1/2") for the Hammer film "The Lost Continent" (1968).

Chantrell was responsible for the Quad poster for the film but it is not clear whether this piece was an early prototype for the Quad. As the final artwork shows: https://www.chantrellposter.com/The-Lost-Continent-Chantrell-Hammer-Quad-Artwork-Original/568 the volcano was certainly meant to figure more prominently in Chantrell's minds eye. Another possibility is that this was artwork produced for a promotional flyer (something Hammer often commissioned Chantrell to work on). Irrespective a scarce & attractive piece of Chantrell/Hammer memorabilia which would look great framed.

Artwork is gouache on light card. Interestingly there is a tracing paper overlay & it looks to have been re-cycled by Chantrell from artwork for "Quatermass And The Pitt" (1967).
