Early pre-production Chantrell painted artwork (11 3/4"x 16 1/2" overall) for the Hammer film "One Million Years BC" (1966), this piece signed & dated by Chantrell "65".

This was one of several early pieces of artwork Chantrell completed in pre-production, this piece believed to be for a possible marketing flyer. The very early nature of the piece is revealed by both the date & the underwater fight scene which doesn't appear in the film indicating that either the scene was subsequently discarded from the script or that Chantrell was using his own imagination to come up with exciting scenarios to depict.

The artwork is colour wash & gouache on paper affixed to light card (artwork coming loose but could be easily re-pasted). The text is carried on two cut-outs both with painted annotations.
