More about this item:

An original single-sided flyer (8 1/2"x 11") & reference photo relating to the Hammer project "When The Earth Cracked Open". Chantrell was used by Hammer to design artwork to help conjure up finance for the film, though in this case the film was never made. The b/w photo of original Chantrell artwork, clearly shows that at one time the film was destined to have a futuristic theme. However, by the time the promo leaflet was printed, it looks as if Hammer were harking back to a "One Million Years BC" type prehistoric theme. The printed leaflet was of course far more explicit than anything Hammer could get poster-wise past the censors at the time. The statuesque female is clearly modelled on Ursula Andress. Whether Ms Andress was aware of the plagiarisation of her image in such a fashion is unknown but she just might have been flattered by Chantrell's enticing depiction.
