What's Up Superdoc Prototype Poster Artwork 1978

This is Chantrell's finished layout (17"x 22") for "What's Up Superdoc" (this prototype would have led to Chantrell being given the go-ahead to produce a further "finished" artwork that would have been used to create the corresponding Quad poster). Not only does the prototype composition show a close correlation to the finished proster (see below for comparison) but the figure of the naughty nurse has been completed to a very high standard.

The piece consists of large areas of painted artwork applied directly to the artboard with futher painted card cut-outs (the film title & "Superdad" newspaper etc) being over-laid. The figures to the bottom rim have been sketched on tracing paper & these again over-laid. Chantrell has additionally signed the piece "Chantrell (Layout)" to the bottom rim. An exceptionally good example of a Chantrell prototype artwork.
