More about this item:
Chantrell's wit, sense of humour & artistry all come to the fore in this poster. The image of the sexy voluptuos nurse, the sense of rising blood pressure & the saucy tag-line "Raising more than a temperature", are all elements typical to Chantrell's work. Whilst most contemporary cinema poster artists, either designed or illustrated posters, Chantrell combined both functions, particularly so after turning freelance in 1971. Most advertising agencies also had specialists to provide lettering designs & witty text copy but again Chantrelll was able to provide this as well. Being able to offer such a "complete" & all-round service was one of the reasons that Chantrell was in constant demand & even as a freelancer, work tended to come to Chantrell rather than him having to pitch for work.
We know that the print run for the sequel "What's Up Superdoc" (1978), only amounted to 2,000 & it is likely that the print run for "What's Up Nurse" was probably no more than 3,000. This poster is a Chantrell proof copy with 3 very faint vertical folds only. One tiny 1/4" conservation repair to edge nick but overall poster remains in excellent condition
