A rare later piece of Chantrell artwork (16"x 21") for Hammer Studios, this being concept artwork for the unmade Hammer film, "Vlad The Impaler". This project was being considered by Michael Carreras from 1974 & this artwork dates from this period. As the "film" was only in the earliest stages of gestation, all that was created was a title script with an heraldic emblem underneath. The title script has been pasted on top of the predominantly black painted background & a tracing paper overlay reveals directions to the printer for colour applications in gold & red (there are other inscriptions carried to the underlying artboard piece too). We do not know if a prototype poster was ever produced but even though a simple design it would have been a dramatic piece.
