More about this item:

The original painted Chantrell artwork (25"x 33" overall) for "The Undefeated" (1969). Starring two icons of 20th century cinema (John Wayne & Rock Hudson), the film pitched a post-war Condederate with a Union man, leading convoys of horses & people through dangerous bandit-riven Mexico.

Chantrell was always particularly good with action & this piece is no exception. Both gun-totting leads look poised for a fight & in the background, we have a raging battle scene. Chantrell had an uncanny knack of creating almost photo-realistic portraits & again this is apparent here, the likenesses of both Wayne & Hudson, being perfect. As was often the case with his compositions, Chantrell would add painted elements onto artbord & then paint around them. Here the Wayne portrait was added next to Hudson (Hudson being painted directly onto the artboard). Chantrell was obviously happy with this work as not only did he sign his name (to the left below Rock Hudson) but this was one piece which was framed & hanged in the family home. A lovely example of Chantrell's artistry & a fine example of poster artwork for a Hollywood western.

NB. Given the size of this item, a supplementary P&P charge will be required. The artwork can be collected framed but if shipped, it will be removed from the frame.
