Based on the hugely successful musical play of the same name, "The King & I" was adapted for the big screen & became a huge box office hit in 1956. The critics were also mightily impressed as the film scooped 5 Oscars with 4 other nominations too.

Chantrell's depiction is very much in the 50's style, his idiosyncratic black outlining of figures also in evidence. In a strange twist of fate, Chantrell's wife, Shirley, was to appear with Yul Brynner in the 1979 West End revival of "The King & I".

The poster has general creasing & slight damage to top right corner. To the reverse of the poster is a lavel reading "Mr. Chantrell Studio".
