More about this item:
This is an interesting Chantrell piece which reminds us that though Chantrell was principally an artist known for his painted work, he was equally at home utilising photographic imagery in his poster designs. Here we have the almost-finished "artwork" for the 1961 British horror film, "The Innocents", starring Deborah Kerr & Peter Wyngarde. Director of photography Freddie Francis used particularly bright lighting in the film to create striking visual imagery & this is perhaps why the Quad for the film employed a photographic rather than painted approach (Style-A Quad poster image courtesy of http://www.moviepostermem.com/ and an alternate Quad design was also printed too). In his design, Chantrell chose to highlight a startled looking Deborah Kerr against a moody tinted background. To the left was a blank space for script & Chantrell has hand tinted Ms Kerr's hair for greater effect. The assembly is mounted on artboard & measures 20 1/2"x 27 1/2".
NB. due to the size/weight of this piece, a separate shipping quote will be required.
