More about this item:
An earlier Chantrell Poster in which the artist incorporates the angular lines that were popular in the 1950's. Given that the Film told the story of the rise to fame of a R'n'R star (Tommy Sands) it was particularly important for the Poster to look "cool & trendy" in contemporary terms. Advertising accompanying the Film made explicit reference to the parallels with Elvis Presley's career. As Tommy Sands Manager in the Film was called "Sharkey" & manifested predatory behaviour too, Elvis's Manager, "Colonel Tom Parker" was apparently less than amused. The Poster has one vertical foldline only, being a Chantrell "proof" copy. There is slight paper loss to the bottom right edge & various small rim nicks. For the purpose of comparison, an image of the original artwork is shown here too.
