The film's American title, "A Thousand & One Erotic Nights", hints at the origin of the film. Launched in the UK in an appropriately tame version, "Scheherazade" started life as a fully-fledged porn film including luminaries of adult cinema Annette Haven & John Leslie. Whilst Chantrell's typically colourful & alluring illustration suggested lashings of carnal activity, it is likely that many UK patrons will have felt a little deflated having seen the much cut film. Chantrell was paid a total of £330 for his roughs & the finished artwork for this poster & the print run numbered 1,500. Being a Chantrell proof poster, this example is in near mint condition.
