Rare artwork for the un-made Hammer film "The Savage Jackboot" (1972) currently exhibited at the Whitstable Museum and Gallery to Celebrate "Peter Cushing at 100". As featured in the Marcus Hearn book "The Hammer Vault" (2011), "The Savage jackboot" was to be an exploitation film following in the footsteps of Hammer's infamous "The Camp on Blood Island" (1958). With Peter Cushing lined up for the role of a tyrannical Nazi, Chantrell produced a gloriously lurid piece of pre-production artwork. Unfortunately, the film was dependent upon "big-name" American stars signing-up but after Yul Brynner, Jack Palance & others had baulked at the subject matter, the film was dropped. The Whitstable exhibition runs till 23rd June 2013.
