Chantrell's finished painted artwork for a late 1980's video cover commission for the classic John Wayne western "Red River" (1948). This is a large piece (19 1/4"x 21") which serves to highlight several of Chantrell's artistic strengths: his uncanny ability to capture almost photographic likenesses of his subjects and a great affinity for evoking a sense of action & dynamism in his compositions (see the two close-ups for reference).

The artwork is gouache on Oram & Robinson watercolour board.
