The original Chantrell artwork for the 1967 Hammer film "Quatermass & the Pitt". The artwork measures 20"x 27" approx & has been framed & glazed to 24 1/2"x 32 1/2" overall. This was the third "Quatermass" film following the debut "The Quatermass Xperiment" in 1955 & "Quatermass II" in 1957. Though chiefly renowned for their Horror films, Hammer studios made an important contribution to the genre of British Scifi films & this is an outstanding example. The artwork here is perhaps less graphic than many of Chantrell's Hammer pieces but Chantrell still has fun presenting imagery suggestive of Scifi, dark deeds & sex: an alluring piece of marketing.
