Original painted Chantrell artwork (22"x 28 1/2") for the UK video release of "Paths of Glory" (1957), this dating c' 1989-93. This is an unusually large & heavy piece, the somewhat brutalistic imagery entirely befitting the anti-war message of the Kubrick's film set during WWI. Chantrell eschews the use of full-colour mimicking the b/w presentation of the '57 film. Interestingly chantrell's artwork was adapted for the 2016 UK DVD/Blu-Ray release of the film as shown below.
The artwork is gouache on paper which has been laid on hardboard with a protective paper overlay. Chantrell was happy with this composition as he signed the piece.
