An early protoype piece of artwork (21"x 25") for the 1972 film about the Mexican revolutionary leader, Pancho Villa. Although unused (see the finished Chantrell Quad poster for comparison), this remains a typically inventive conceptual design by Chantrell, the bullet ridden woodwork providing a backdrop for dripping blood which reveals an image of the eponymous subject. For further comparison, we also show the US 1-Sheet movie poster used for the American advertising campaign (courtesy of emovieposter.com).
