More about this item:

Original prototype painted artwork (11 1/4"x 15 1/2") by Chantrell for the classic Hammer film "One Million Years BC". Although the film was released in 1966, Chantrell has signed & dated the artwork as "65". The reason for this (& the absence of Raquel Welch in the composition) is that this artwork was for a Hammer pre-production publicity flyer. This would have been used both to hype the film in advance & more crucially to help secure film financing for the project (Chantrell created a number of these flyers for other prospective Hammer titles). As the original Quad artwork for "One Million Years BC" was destroyed, this remains a rare surviving piece of artwork for the film.

The artwork is gouache on card with hand-painted film title & "This Is a Hammer Film" script as cut-out additions. There is a paper overlay attached.
