More about this item:
Picked up for UK distribution by Tony Tensor's Tigon Films, this low-budget documentary about motorbike racing, has a huge cult following due to the presence of Steve McQueen. McQueen was a fan of Motor Sport & regularly participated on both two & four wheels. As he became a Box office star, his contracts usually stipulated that he was not allowed to drive (let alone race) whilst filming but this restriction was often overlooked by McQueen (for instance when filming "The War Lovers" in the UK). Given the somewhat specialised nature of the film, it was not widely seen & the print run for the first release on a stand-alone basis (as here) was small. This is a rare title. When it does emerge, it is normally as part of a double-bill & this too is scarce. Obviously, Chantrell's budget for the Poster was strictly limited but nonetheless, the Poster does it's job, ably conveying a sense of excitement & capitalising on McQueen's "pulling" power. This Poster is an unfolded Chantrell proof copy.
