This is Chantrell's original pre-production artwork for this 1973 Hammer film. Ever eager to capitalise on what would sell, Hammer latched onto the early 70's western interest in Asian martial arts films & this exotic horror-martial arts hybrid ensued. Chantrell was once again drafted in to create a piece of artwork that could be used to elicit the necessary finance & this piece measuring (16"x 22 1/2") resulted. According to the excellent Marcus Hearn book "The Hammer Vault" (2011) Chantrell's artwork was printed in Japanese magazines, though the commission for the Quad poster was handled by Vic Fair & Arnaldo Putzu was responsible for the final Quad poster illustration (image courtesy of www.moviepostermem.com)
