More about this item:

Original painted Chantrell artwork (19 1/2"x 24") for the video release of the Oliver Reed action-adventure Hannibal Brooks" (1969), this believed to be a 1990 commission from Warner Home Video. The film tells the tale of a POW (Reed) who mounts an escape from the Germans in WWII with an elephant across the Alps! It's an unusual film but Chantrell delivers an attractive action filled composition. We have evidence that this artwork was used for the French release of the video (see image below).

An image of Chantrell working on this artwork appears in the Sim Branaghan book "British Film Posters" (2006).

The artwork is gouache on Legion artboard with a blank acetate overlay & a marked up paper cover.
