Original Chantrell painted artwork (17 1/2"x 27 1/2") for the video cover for "Going Hollywood: The War Years" (c' 1988-90), this a documentary about Hollywood's role keeping up morale during WWII. This is one of Chantrell's later illustrations but the likenesses of the stars (Errol Flynn, Betty Grable, John Wayne, Clark Gable, Bette Davis Humphrey Bogart, Rita Hayworth etc) is really impressive with an almost photographic quality. By the late 1980's, cinema poster commissions were drying up as distributors switched to photo-based poster designs so most of Chantrell's work at this time was for video commissions such as this.

This is the finished artwork (please see video cover for reference). Credits etc would have been added on an acetate overlay. The artwork is gouache to Daler Watercolour artboard.
