Firecreek Chantrell Quad Artwork 1968

The (almost) finished artwork (21"x 28" approx) for this 1968 western starring James Stewart & Henry Fonda. When comparing the art with the printed Quad, it is clear that the imagery here is finished. however, the typeface has obviously been changed though the Chantrell tag-line "...Meet In The Heat Of Firecreek" has simply been transposed from the header to the centre of the poster. Chantrell's idea of contrasting red & black text has also been maintained. It is interesting to note that in many other agencies the role of artwork creation & lettering were often separate functions but Chantrell invariably took care of both himself. Although Chantrell created some fabulous western posters ("Chisum" from 1970 another great example), this is a rare surviving piece of Chantrell "western" artwork.
