This is Chantrell's original artwork "rough" (12"x 16") for this 1980 comic horror spoof starring Oliver Reed. Like most of Chantrell's roughs, this bears a strong resemblance to the finished Quad (shown below for comparison). Whilst this might sound self-evident, most artists would have created several roughs prior to being given the commission to commence the finished artwork whereas Chantrell usually satisfied the brief in one attempt!. This piece also shows another side to Chantrell's input: both the title typography & the tag-line script were created by Chantrell & carried over onto the finished Quad. Again, this is something which not every artist would provide & highlights another reason why Chantrell was in such high demand as a commercial artist.
