Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Chantrell Quad Artwork 1974

Chantrell's finished Quad poster artwork for the 1974 film "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry". This is an interesting example where Chantrell was invited to re-work Robert Tanenbaum's existing artwork from the American poster campaign (see the US 1-Sheet below courtesy of emovieposter.com). Chantrell mimics Tanenbaum's design but switches the "scenes" in the spectacles to better accommodate the Quad format (see below image courtesy of www.moviepostermem).

The artwork is gouache on Legion artboard (21"x 27 3/4") with the spectacle scene being painted on a card cut-out which has been superimposed. The text is printed on strips which have also been added onto the artboard.
