This is one of 4 prototype pieces of artwork (16"x 22") Chantrell produced for this classic Visconti film (the only one we have thus far found, however). Although the illustration of Bogarde mimics the photographic pose on the final Quad poster, it is not believed that Chantrell was responsible for the finished poster (though it is likely that his roughs influenced the final design). The artwork is laid onto card with a tracing paper overlay.
