Two-thirds of the original artwork for the 1977 Chantrell Quad for the sexploitation classic "Come Play With Me" (the completed Quad Poster shown for reference). This poster is one of the most collectable in the sexploitation canon having appeared in Christie's landmark "Exploitation Poster Art" sale of December 2005. The obvious question to ask is "why has the artwork here been cut" & the answer almost undoubtedly is that Chantrell will have "cannibalised" this piece to work on a future commission. As a commercial artist Chantrell was driven, focused & unsentimental about his work, perfectly willing to use cut-outs from previous pieces in order to reduce pressure & meet deadlines. We show an item relating to the 1980's video release of "Come Play With Me" & it is possible that this is where the "Mary Millington" artwork was later applied. As it stands, the remaining artwork measures 21 1/2"x 22" approx.
