This is Chantrell's finished artwork for the 1969 quad poster for "Che" (minus the text - see the finished poster below courtesy of emovieposter.com). Che was the pin-up poster boy for aspirant revolutionairies across the globe in the 1960's. The mystique of the man was largely due to an Alberto Korda photo which Irish artist, Jim Fitzpatrick, used to create an iconic poster design (see below). This poster design was reproduced & adapted the globe over (Warhol did a famous art montage using this design).


Chantrell, was clearly inspired by the photo negative Fitzpatrick poster design but here used a photographic image of Che without his beret & brandishing a gun. The blood red painted background mimicked the Fitzpatrick poster & provided suitable political connotations. The "CHE" title, was applied in day-glo yellow card by Chantrell.


NB. The artwork measures 22"x 28" so a supplementary P&P charge will be required unless the buyer wishes to collect in person.
