Original Chantrell finished painted artwork (23 3/4"x 31 3/4" overall) for the Quad poster for the  film "The Sound And The Fury" (1959) starring Yul Brynner and Joanne Woodward.

A particularly interesting Chantrell composition, the clashing orange/purple colour scheme hinting of the tension & drama in the film. The artwork shows a range of brushwork by the artist, the coloured background executed in impressionistic style whereas the image of the two leads exhibits Chantrell's favoured "photo-realist" approach. An artwork that is a great example of Chantrell's versatility of both design & illustration. The artwork is laid to card & affixed to artboard with a silver paper mount. Chantrell obviously liked this painting as he had it hanging framed in his home & the artwork has been signed by Chantrell too. The artwork is gouache & the text has been applied with painted cut-outs.

Due to the size of this piece a supplementary P&P charge will be required for all buyers though it may also be collected by appointment.
