Original Chantrell finished painted artwork (16"x 26" overall) for the video cover artwork for "The Rise of Catherine The Great" (1934).
Starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr, Elisabeth Bergner & Flora Robson, the film was an historical study of the Russian Empress (1762-1796). With the exception of the printed title text, Chantrell's composition is completely painted being gouache on "Daler" artboard. Chantrell has covered the art with an acetate overlay & added a card surround. This artwork was produced towards the end of Chantrell's career & was used for a late 1990's video release (see image for reference)
Due to the size of this piece a supplementary P&P charge will be required for all buyers though it may also be collected by appointment.
