More about this item:

Original prototype painted artwork (15 1/4"x 20") for the Quad poster for "Catch Us If You Can" (1965), the British film starring the Beat group The Dave Clark Five. The film featured Dave Clark & Barbara Ferris being pursued around London & S.England by the rest of the band etc. "Catch Us If You Can" looked to capitalise on the success of similar ventures by The Beatles into the world of cinema. This is a "highly finished" piece as demonstrated by comparison with the printed Quad poster.

The artwork is laid to artboard & consists of painted gouache artwork, photographic cut-outs and a printed "brick wall". The poster design by Chantrell features a mock-up of a Barbara Ferris poster on a wall which has attracted various witty annotations.

The Dave Clark 5 were the second British band to feature on the Ed Sullivan TV Show in the USA following The Beatles. They were at the vanguard of the "British Invasion" in the States & racked up 9 top 10 hits in the UK 1964-70. This artwork provides an excellent example of Chantrell's work & is a an unusual original piece of British Beat memorabilia.
