Carry On Screaming Chantrell Artwork 1966

Chantrell's original painted artwork of Angela Douglas, taken from artwork for the Quad poster for "Carry On Screaming" (1966). The artwork here is approx 7 1/2" in height (we show the printed Quad poster below for purposes of comparison). Unfortunately, we believe that this piece is all that remains of the artwork for the poster. Why Chantrell cut-out this piece, we're not sure but he took a completely unsentimental approach to his finished art, frequently extracting pieces to be re-painted/tinted or re-positioned & often "raiding" his own art for pieces that could be re-cycled, especially for re-release designs.

The artwork is beautifully vivid with the colours sharp & bright. Ms Douglas's head was almost detached so this has been repaired with conservation tape to the reverse.

Angela Douglas starred in 4 Carry On films: "...Cowboy" (1965), "...Screaming" (1966), "Follow That Camel" (1967) & "..Up The Khyber" (1968).
