More about this item:

A wonderful piece of Chantrell original painted artwork (18”x 24”) for the 1976 film “At The Earth’s Core”. This was the 2nd in the series of 3 films Amicus made with Kevin Connor as director & Doug McClure as the lead, the films being based on the novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Chantrell provided the artwork for all 3 Quads & UK 1-Sheet posters ensuring a continuity of design which makes these posters a good collectable series. Chantrell clearly enjoyed himself with these commissions, being able to create a fantastic melange of pre-history & science fiction, with action & a dash of sex (courtesy of Caroline Munro here) thrown in too. Chantrell’s technique of integrating the film title into the central fabric of the poster design is plainly evident. The artwork is composed of mixed media on artboard & the colours remain bold & vibrant. Chantrell has signed the piece bottom right.

Though the artwork here includes all the key components from the design of the UK Quad & 1-Sheet (see the below), the illustration is different. Clearly Chantrell produced several finished pieces of artwork for this commission. Thanks to Sim Branaghan (“British Film Posters” 2006) for identifying this as being artwork for the Australian 1-Sheet poster (image courtesy of emovieposter.com). This artwork has also been used for later DVD releases too.

NB. Due to the size of this item, a separate shipping quote will be required for all buyers though UK buyers may of course arrange to collect too.
