Original Chantrell photographic artwork (20"x 23 1/2") for the psychological thriller "And Soon The Darkness" (1970). This piece shows the versatility Chantrell possessed. Although best-known for his painted compositions, Chantrell was equally happy to use photographic elements in his designs. The design for the UK 1-Sheet poster (see http://www.moviepostermem.com/And-Soon-The-Darkness-Poster/59718) is basically a photographic montage with artwork elements. Although this artwork is "highly finished", the cast/credits lettering bottom right rim shows this to have been a conceptual piece.

The artwork consists of a photo of a previously cut & pasted montage of photos with artwork elements. Onto this photo background, Chantrell has painted in the title & the cast/credits text & the cut-out photographic figure of the girl has been glued on top. The photo has been set onto artboard & Chantrell has added paper "frame".
