More about this item:
Original Chantrell painted artwork (17 3/4"x 23 1/2") for the video release of the 1970 film "A.K.A. Cassius Clay", this dating from the early 1990's prior to Chantrell's retirement.
The composition has been taken from the US 1-Sheet "International" poster design which shows the boxer Cassius Clay (aka "Muhammed Ali") posing alongside a boxing glove clad image of the Statue of Liberty! The film was a documentary about the boxing superstar & included other boxing greats including Sonny Liston, Sugar Ray Robinson & Henry Cooper.
The artwork is mostly gouache laid to "Legion" artboard with a tracing paper overlay (detached) & a further paper overlay which Chantrell has boldly annotated. We show an image of the printed Video cover for reference.
